Virginia (Ginny) Ann Powell Boak passed on April 18, 2026 at Elderwood at Liverpool in New York. Ginny was born February 9, 1938 in Oswego, NY to Virginia Dietz Converse Powell and Theodore Ralph Powell.

Ginny was a graduate of Oswego High School in 1957. As a member of Christ Church, later the Church of the Resurrection, she enjoyed many years singing in the choir.

After working 30 years for the Telephone Company in Oswego, Rome and Syracuse Ginny retired in 1987. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.  Ginny also volunteered with the Onondaga Board of Elections, a member of the American Legion Post 1276 in Eastwood, NY.

Ginny enjoyed bowling in several leagues, especially during her years living in Bridgeport, NY.  She will be remembered as a good and caring friend to many from Oswego, Syracuse, Bridgeport and finally Liverpool. During her time in Elderwood at Liverpool, Ginny enjoyed participating in many activity programs, especially Bingo.

Ginny was predeceased by her parents, husband Roy George Boak (married in 1980), brother David Theodore Powell and sister-in-law Sally Himes Powell and many other family members.

Ginny is survived by her niece Gail (Andy) Dill and his sons Erik, Thomas and Mark, nephew Robert Powell (Joan) and their daughter Amanda Reiter and her children Hailey and Annalise, and nephew Mark Powell (Linda -dv) and their sons David Jason and Tyler, also her cousin Mary (Rod) Watson (her children Kelley and Kyle), and many other cousins and family.

There will be a visitation to celebrate Ginny's life from 10:00 to 11:00 on Friday, June 26, 2026, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, 112 East Second Street in Oswego.

The internment will be private.
