Ruth Esther Chatfield, 99, a resident of Bishops Commons in Oswego, and a former resident of Wolcott, NY, passed away Tuesday, July 21, 2026, in Oswego.

Mrs. Chatfield was born in Butler, NY, the daughter of the late Orson and Leila (Pierson) Moore.

Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a secretary with the Agway Corp.

She was an antique dealer, and was a member of the Wayne County Antique Dealers Association.

Mrs. Chatfield was also an accomplished gardener, particularly with roses, of which she had over 100 David Austin varieties at one time.  She was a member of the Wayne County Rose Society.

In addition, she was a member of the Wolcott Historical Society, and the Butler Historical Society.

She was the wife of the late James S. Chatfield, who died in 2022.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Dominick) D'Amore of Oswego, and many nieces and nephews.

Private burial services will be held in Butler Center Cemetery.

There will be no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory can be made to the Wolcott Historical Society, the Butler Historical Society, or to the charity of choice.
