Richard V Syrell, 85 of Oswego passed away Friday January 16, at Upstate Medical University Hospital.

He was born in Oswego and was the son of the late Harry and Gladys Laird Syrell.

Mr. Syrell served in the US Airforce and was Honorably Discharged.

Mr. Syrell had worked at Columbia Mills and then at Alcan.

He loved to fish with his brothers and father that owned Harry's Bait Shop in Oswego. He also loved to hunt with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 47 years, the former Mary E. Wolever, two sons, Scott Syrell of Mexico, NY. Jeff Syrell of Ocala, FL.

two stepdaughters, Lisa Driver of Mexico, NY. and Peggy Witham of Graham, NC.

Six grandchildren:

Sarah Syrell, Josiah Syrell, Travis Dlugosz, Tyler Dlugosz, Mercedes Cervantes, Eric Syrell.

Three step grandchildren:

Lindsey Judy, Max Driver, Karen Oberg, and several nieces and nephews.

Deceased before him:

Brothers: Rob, Bill, Jerry, Jim Syrell

Daughter: Kerri Cervantes

Sister-in-law: Maryann Syrell

Stepsons: Stephen and Mark Leonard.

Spring burial will be in Peck Cemetery.

A Celebration of Life will take place on August 6, 2026 from 12Noon until 3PM at Bridie Manor, Oswego, NY Please RSVP to 315-343-7589 by July 27, 2026.
