Obituary

Patricia A. McBrien, 83, passed away with her family by her side on February 24, 2024 at Oswego Hospital.

Born on February 19, 1941 to Margaret (Wells) Driscoll and Bernard D Driscoll, 'Patty' grew up at the 'forks of the road' with her parents and brother, 'Barney', who all predeceased her. She attended St. Mary's School and Oswego High School where she studied business and was a varsity cheerleader.

Pat is survived by her husband of 62 years, C. Richard 'Dick' McBrien who lovingly cared for her during her illness; her children Michele (Dave) Lloyd, Scott (Cindy Eager) McBrien and Erin (Daniel) Coty; her grandchildren Nick (Jenna) Lloyd, Tim Lloyd, Caleb Roy, Donovan Roy, Madison (Bronson) Holland, Brennan McBrien, Abigail Roy and Marley McBrien; step grandchildren Zach Coty and Jane Coty as well as great-grandchildren Oliver and Everly Lloyd.

Pat held several jobs including administrative assistant at Operation Oswego County and the Port of Oswego Authority. The majority of her career was at Cyclotherm where she was the Accounting Director. Later she 'did the books' for Friendly's Restaurant which, ironically, was built where her childhood home stood.

Pat could always be found as the first spectator to arrive at every baseball/softball game that her grandchildren played. They affectionately gave her the nickname 'Gubba' and she was so proud of all of them. The grandchildren also remember her for her Christmas tree cake with its signature green icing.

In addition to cheering on her grandkids, she was an avid NY Yankee fan, in particular she adored Derek Jeter. She supported Scott in his motocross racing for several years as his pit crew chief.

Pat and Dick had several pets, most recently her beloved Shih tzu Izzy who was by her side for almost 20 years.

One of Pat's points of pride was her impeccable penmanship that she used up until a couple weeks before she passed; if she sent you a greeting card, you knew who it was from immediately just by seeing her flowing strokes.
