Marilyn Catherine Niederpruem, 81, and a resident of West First Street in Oswego, passed away Saturday, September 23, 2023, at the Oswego Hospital.

Marilyn was born in Buffalo, NY, the daughter of the late Edwin Snow and the late Mary (Busadula) Franklin. She had lived in the Buffalo area for most of her life before moving to Oswego about 5 years ago.

Prior to her retirement, she had been employed as a cook at several Buffalo-area restaurants.

Marilyn was a wonderful person, who loved taking care of others. She was an excellent cook, and she enjoyed preparing food for her family and friends. She was known for her great sense of humor, and always brought smiles to the faces of those she was with.

She enjoyed knitting and crocheting and other arts and crafts.

She is survived by her daughter, Debora (Ken) Cherchio of Lycoming; a son, John (Sue) Meier of Las Vegas, NV; two step-sons, Kevin (Terri) Niederpruem of Lancaster, NY, and Todd Niederpruem of Angola, NY; a sister, Susan (Mike) Lalewicz, of Ohio; four grandchildren, Jessica (Jeremy) Cahill of Mexico, Nicholas (Jaimye) Cherchio of Oswego, Phillip Cherchio of Lycoming, and Sarah Cherchio of Oswego; and several  great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Paul Niederpruem, who died on May 6, 2019.

Services will be private.
