Margaret S. Schneider, 95 and a resident of Oswego passed away Friday at the Oswego Hospital, surrounded by her family.

Born in Oswego, she was the daughter of the late Elois and Mary (Loftus) Simons. She attended St. Paul's School, and was a graduate of the Oswego High School and Rochester Business Institute.

She was a secretary at St. Regis Paper co., Engineering and Machine Shop Division, Oswego, and the International Harvester Co., Philadelphia, PA, while her husband attended watchmaking school. She was a bookkeeper for the family jewelry store for many years.

She was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling, card games, and camp life with family and friends. She loved nature-rainbows, sunsets, and the night sky.

She was predeceased by her husband, James E. Schneider, in 1994, a brother James Simons, a sister Helen Gray of Parish, and son-in-law Dennis Barbeau.

Surviving are a son James (Margaret-Meg) Schneider and a daughter Mary Ellen Barbeau, both of Oswego; four grandchildren, Ellen (Brad) Spencer, Eric (Alex) Schneider, Kristin (Will) Gilmore, and Michael Barbeau, four great-granddaughters, Sierra Buske, Caroline Barbeau, Katherine Spencer, and Emily Spencer; and one great grandson, Greyson Gilmore.

The family would like to express their gratitude for the excellent care that Mrs. Schneider received from the staff at the Oswego Hospital.

Funeral services will be Tuesday 11:00 AM in St. Mary's Church. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery. There are no calling hours.
