John Joseph
Munski, Jr.
Aug 1, 1942 — Sep 17, 2026
Oswego
John J. Munski, Jr., 84 of Oswego passed away Thursday evening in the Oswego Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Oswego and was the son of the late John and Mary Louise Karam Munski.
Mr. Munski had been employed as a pharmacist at the Oswego Hospital for over 30 years.
Prior to his employment at Oswego Hospital, he was employed at Wayne Drugs in Oswego and Kinney Drugs in Gouverneur.
He found joy in the simple things in life. He had an amazing green thumb and took great pride in his impeccable yard and gardens. Everyone looked forward to enjoying the cucumbers and tomatoes he grew, which he was always happy to share. He enjoyed hunting for the camaraderie, fresh air, and exercise, and he loved fishing whether he came home with a catch or simply enjoyed the time spent outdoors. Most of all, he treasured time with his family, who always came first. In the winter months, he could often be found stacking wood and keeping the wood stove stoked, always ready to do whatever needed to be done. His mantra, “Just do it,” was a reflection of the way he lived his life - with purpose, determination, and without hesitation.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy Munski, two sons David (Trinka) Munski of Liverpool, Matt Munski of Oswego, two daughters Julie (Bob) Haggard of Painted Post, NY, Lisa (Anton) Wopperer of Amherst, NY, one brother, Robert Munski of Webster, one sister Patricia Clark of Fulton, nine grandchildren, Zachary (Taylor) Munski, Jacob Munski, Brynn (Cole) Wopperer, Caleb Munski, Max (Rani) Wopperer, Jordan (Rianne) Haggard, Tyler Wopperer, Loni Munski, Leo Munski, several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, September 22, from 4-6PM followed by a service at 6PM at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home.
Private burial services will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
