Joan was an amazing seamstress and worked countless hours at their family business, Karpinski's, for most of her life. In her younger years, she loved to grocery shop and drive around in her fancy Cadillac. She also loved socializing on their sailboat which was docked in Sackets Harbor for over 35 years. Joan and Dick were known all around Upstate New York for their love of music and dancing. Joan was also known for her famous pies she would bake. She even had a pie flag to let other boaters in the marina know that the pies were ready. She had the knack of throwing together a party in a matter of minutes, which she did for occasions such as Christmas, Thanksgiving, family reunions, and many other events. She loved to have fun with her family, and she won everyone over with her unique personality. Once you met Joan, you immediately fell in love with her. She was one of a kind.
