Joan A. Eckert, 78, a resident of East 10th Street in Oswego, passed away Friday, at St. Luke Health Services.

Joan was born in Fulton, the daughter of the late Charles and Addie (Stevens) Patterson. She was a life resident of the area.

Prior to her retirement, she was the co-owner of the Scriba Mini Mart on Route 104 East.

She was the wife of the late James M. Eckert.

She is survived by a daughter, Linda (Robert) Guilds of Oswego; a son, James M. Eckert, Jr. of Oswego; a brother, Warren (Lurlyne) Patterson of Oswego; three sisters, Dorothy (Paul) Pryor of Ilion, NY, Loretta (James) Delahunt of Oswego, and Patricia (Edward) Dunsmore of Mesa, Arizona; two grandchildren, Brad Guilds and Tyler Eckert; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Rose Marie Patterson.

Private burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery.

There will be no calling hours.
