Helen M.
Waldau
Aug 6, 1941 — Apr 9, 2024
Oswego
Helen Marjorie Waldau, 82, of Oswego, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2024 surrounded by family.
Helen was born in Syracuse, NY on August 6,1941 to the late Henry J. and Ruth M. (Agley) Waldau.
Helen had a long-standing career at Hammermill Paper Company working as a Purchasing Agent up until her retirement. Never one to sit still, she then became a beloved Crossing Guard with the City of Oswego for many years.
In her youth, she was a majorette with the Mexico Marching band, a cheerleader, a dance instructor with the Arthur Murray Dance Institute, and was crowned Miss Oswego County, Miss Mexico, and Queen of Sandy Creek. Helen was just as beautiful on the inside, as she was on the outside.
In her spare time, Helen enjoyed many activities such as bowling, curating her ever growing garden of beautiful flowers, and striving for that big win at the casino. However, her most favored activity was spending copious amounts of time with her family, making treasured memories filled with love and laughter.
Helen was the matriarch of her family and was loved by all who knew her. She was the epitome of unconditional love, support, and kindness. While she will be deeply missed, her family celebrates a full life, well lived, and promises her that should we ever get the chance to sit it out or dance, we'll dance.
Helen is survived by her three beautiful daughters whom she loved dearly, Pamela (Ken) Williams, Shari (Joseph) Mezza, and Kathy (Brett) Tice, all of Oswego. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren Jonathan (Lara O'Bannion) Pryor, Taylor (Kelly) Tice, Cody Tice, Nicholas Mezza, Miranda Tice, Natasha Mezza, Gillian Coffey, Morgan Coffey, and grandpups Bella and Sasha; as well as her sisters, Joyce (Robert) Barnes and Kathleen Ives; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Helen was predeceased by her sister, Janet Clark; brother, Henry "Buster" Waldau; and several adored grandpups, Buddy, Maia, Daisy, and Nadia.
