With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Carol Cloonan. She passed away peacefully at Crouse Hospital on August 6th, in Syracuse NY at the age of 68 after a brief illness. She brought immeasurable joy and light into our lives with her kind heart and uplifting spirit. Carol is survived by her children Ryan Loughrey, Valerie Loughrey (Brian Walton), and Andrew Loughrey (Jane Loughrey); grandchildren Ian Walton, Vivian Siatkowski, and Hazel Walton; siblings Hugh Cloonan (JoAnn Cloonan), Valerie Martin (James Martin), Michael Cloonan, Constance Cloonan (John Thurber), Kathy Cloonan, Jim Cloonan and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Hubert Cloonan, Beulah Cloonan, sister Maureen Cloonan, brother Patrick Cloonan, and brother Timothy Cloonan.

Carol was born at the Oswego Hospital on February 2nd, 1956, and lived in Oswego her entire life. She graduated from the Oswego Catholic High School in 1974 and attended SUNY Canton. Carol devoted her life to her family, including her children and grandchildren. Carol enjoyed meaningful conversations and loved spending time with those nearest and dearest to her. Carol's friends and family remember her as being a loving, thoughtful, generous, compassionate, wise and strong person. She had a wonderful sense of humor and always offered her time and support to those she loved.

In remembrance, a gathering will take place on Saturday, August 10, 2024, from 2:00 to 5:00 at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, where we will honor Carol's enduring impact on our community and hearts. A prayer service will follow at 5:00.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Carol's memory can be made to the American Cancer Society.
