Betty Jane Miller, 86, of Fulton, New York, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 3 rd , 2018.

Miller Jr., two daughters, Gladys (Frank Nobbs) Miller of Fulton, NY, and Alene Goddard (Louis Jr) of Newark, DE, a son, Almore J Miller III of Newark, DE, two sisters, Jacqueline Ponzi of Oswego, NY, and Gladys Woodard, of Oswego, NY, 4 grandchildren, Joyce Goddard, Brian Francis, Candice (Chad) Griffis, and Gregory Rose; and 3 great-grandchildren, Brooke and Morgan Rose, and Aryel (Shane) Vezzose ; 1 great-great grandson, Aideyn Vezzose. Also, she is survived by several nieces and nephews. The family would like to give special thanks to Betty's niece, Beverly Davis and nephew, Randy Miller, for all their care and love for Mom and Dad.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Gladys Nearbin, 5 sisters Sally Mattot, Shirley Thompson, Bonnie McCrae, Mary Gioia, and Joan Greeney; and grandson Louis H. Goddard III.
Betty was a very supportive and capable Navy wife, a wonderful homemaker, and a loving mother and grandmother. During her husband's 21 years in the Navy, they traveled along the east and west coasts of the US, living at different Naval bases. While stationed in Charleston, South Carolina, their daughter Gladys was born. Then while stationed in Honolulu, HI, their 2 nd daughter, Alene, was born. Their 3 rd and final child, a son, Almore III, was born while they were stationed in Bethesda, Maryland. Often Betty was on her own while her husband was out to sea for months at a time. Betty made friends easily with the other Navy wives and kept everything "shipshape" while her husband was away at sea. As a homemaker, no matter where they were stationed, Betty made the Navy housing "home" each and every time regardless of the conditions at the time. Betty worked tirelessly cleaning, scrubbing sometimes on hands and knees, every floor and surface to make a home for her family! Betty was a loving and attentive mother. She raised her children to become strong, individual and capable adults. In later years, she and her husband enjoyed traveling to Atlantic City each year to enjoy the sun, the boardwalk, and casinos. They also traveled several times a year to upstate NY to visit relatives and attend the Miller and Nearbin Family Reunions. Betty spent her leisure time reading, watching movies, playing different card games, playing games on her Kindle, and spending time with her family.
Betty is dearly loved and will be remembered for her kindness and loving nature towards everyone. She will be terribly missed by all who knew her, especially by her family and friends.
