Cremation

Across the country, more and more people are turning to cremation as an option for burial or memorialization. Dain-Cullinan offers a full-line of urns and vaults to honor you or your loved one. If cremation is of interest to you, please ask any member of our staff about the numerous options you may have if you chose cremation.

The Federal Trade Commission and the NYS Health Department require complete itemization and price disclosure on most services that we offer- such as a traditional funeral that includes viewing, visitation,processions, etc. However, in an immediate cremation situation we are allowed to package price the services. At the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, Inc. we feel that the families we serve deserve the right to know what is involved and the items included for an immediate cremation. They are as follows:

Removal from place of death - includes licensed personnel, necessary equipment and vehicle needed - 7 days a week, 24 hours a day.
There is no preparation involved with an immediate cremation, however, there is a disinfection procedure that we follow for equipment and personnel in all cases.
Arrangements - includes facilities and equipment to respond to initial request for service, the arrangement conference, securing of all necessary documents and paperwork, and coordination of any parties included for services and/or disposition.
A minimum cremation container that the crematory requires is provided. It is constructed with fiberboard and has a pressboard bottom.
The casketing of the remains into the container.
The licensed personnel and the proper vehicle to transport to the crematory.
Supervision of disposition of the ashes.

*Many cemeteries require an urn vault for burial of the ashes.

Dain-Cullinan's best kept secret, until now, is our vast library and database dedicated to genealogical research. We have compiled a complete index, by name, of all funerals conducted since 1865. This resource has proven itself invaluable to a number of people trying to locate deceased relatives. Based on an analysis of approximately 9,000 services by Federated Funeral Directors of America members across the state of New York, the cost of an average adult funeral in 2003, including a complete traditional funeral service and casket (excluding the vault) was $5,374.67.
