Joseph F. Axtell, 71 of Oswego passed away Monday at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
He was born in Oswego and was the son of the late Joseph F. and Dorothy Fitzsimmons Axtell.
Mr. Axtell was employed on various local construction projects and was a member of Boilermakers Local #5 and Laborers Local #214.
He is survived by one daughter Erin (John) Stevenson of Oswego, two sons Ronald Axtell of Washington State, Joseph F. Axtell, III of California, three brothers George (Delores) Axtell of Southern Pines, N. Carolina, Richard (Susan) Axtell of Pawleys Island, S. Carolina, Robert (Cathy) Axtell of Town of Oswego, three sisters Catherine Matsubu of Sacramento, Cal., Marian (Robert) Ascenzi of Minetto, Betsy (Bruce) Brown of Oswego, two stepdaughters Daisy Boyer of Fulton, Sylvia Gates of Oswego, a close friend Kathy Spilman of Oswego and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held Saturday at 12Noon at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Morisette officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be held from 11:00-12:00Noon prior to the service.
