|In memory of Mary “Mim” Theresa Maiurano, 93, of St. Luke Health Services, Inc. formerly of Washington Boulevard, who passed away Thursday evening surrounded by family. Mary was born in Oswego, daughter of the late Franz and Catherine (Trojnar) Moczka, on November 28, 1917. She was a lifelong resident of Oswego and educated in local schools including the Oswego Normal School. She was a communicant of St. Stephen the King Church, the setting of her marriage to Henry “Hank” Maiurano on the evening of Saturday, July 19, 1941. He predeceased her on December 6, 1981. Mary was employed at the Olmstead Dress Factory and later in the dining halls at SUNY Oswego until her retirement in 1979. She also worked at Workman’s Flower Shop, Oswego, and at Maiurano’s Flowers & Gift Shop, Norwich.
Mary was so energetic and full of zip that she participated in almost every activity at St. Luke Health Services during her stay, sometimes assisting fellow residents so that they might also enjoy themselves. She loved to quilt making beautiful pieces with the Busy Fingers Quilting Bee. She also spent a good deal of her time tending the flowers in the courtyard fondly dubbed “Mary’s Garden” by the staff. And her quick-witted spunk always made her family and friends laugh.
She is survived by one beloved son, Joseph Maiurano of Oswego; several nieces and nephews; and many friends who will forever hold her dear in their hearts. Mary was predeceased by six brothers, Edward, Louis, John, Carl, Anthony and Joseph Munski and a sister Clara Coon.
Funeral services will be held Monday 9:30AM from the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home and at 10:00AM in St. Stephen the King Church. Entombment will be in All Saints Mausoleum at St. Peter’s Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday 8-9:30AM at the funeral home.
