|Oswego Ė Marilee (King) Maroney, 75, a life-time resident of Oswego, passed away peacefully Saturday, February 12, 2011 at U Mass Memorial Hospital in Worcester, MA. Her daughters were both with her.
Marilee was born on August 20, 1935, in Oswego, to Mary (Gallagher) and Leon S. King. She was their only child and the light of their lives.
She attended St. Paulís Academy from Kindergarten through 9th grade and graduated in 1950; she was a 1953 graduate of Oswego High School. Marilee received a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from the State University of New York College at Oswego in 1957. Her graduate work in education was also completed at SUNY Oswego.
Marilee taught Kindergarten at Fairley Elementary School in the Hannibal Central School District from 1957 until her retirement in 1996. The friendships she made during her years in Hannibal have endured, and she kept in touch with many of her co-workers, and the families she worked with, on a regular basis.
Marilee loved being with her family and was a devoted daughter, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed gardening and taking care of her home, reading, and traveling with her family and friends. She was most happy when spending time with her grandchildren and watching them in their different activities. She was a member of the Oswego Hospital Ladies Auxiliary. She was a devout Catholic and a communicant of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Minetto.
She is survived by her two daughters; Mary Beth (Mark) Fierro of Oswego, and Amy (Joseph) Campisi of North Grafton, MA; her beloved grandchildren, Nathan Leon Couse of North Grafton, Katherine Mary Fierro, Mia Mary Fierro, Michael Charles Leon Fierro, all of Oswego; and Joseph S. Campisi III of North Grafton; several dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30am Friday, in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Minetto.
Calling hours will be held from 4:00 to 7:00pm Thursday, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, 112 East Second Street in Oswego.
Marilee will be laid to rest in St. Peterís Cemetery beside her Mother, Father, and Grandfather.
