Robert James “Bumpa” Walpole, 81 and a resident of 2269 County Route 7 in the Town of Oswego passed away Sunday evening in the Oswego Hospital. He was born in Oswego and was the son of the late Robert and Charlotte Mundy Walpole and his step mother Edith Walpole. Mr. Walpole was the husband of Pearl (Cuyler) Walpole, they had been married for fifty years. Robert was a member of the Oswego City Police Department from 1956-1966 and retired from the Carpenters Local #747 in 1989. He was a member of the Oswego Alliance Church. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He loved hunting, reading, crossword puzzles, scrapbooking (in his own special way) and was quite a jokester. Robert loved making things from wood and he was a perfectionist. His family loved him dearly and will miss him. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons George (Kathleen) Walpole, David (Cindy) Walpole, three daughters Debra (Don) Buske, Shari (Roger) Wideman and Keli (Paul) Oleyourryk all of Oswego, two brothers William (Flo) Walpole of Florida, John (Sharon) Walpole of Oswego, one sister Mary Anne (Lee) Perry of Oswego, seventeen grandchildren Kati (Tim) Stone, Michelle Walpole, Shania Walpole, Deana (Kevin) Michaels, Donald Buske, Daniel (Jamie) Buske, George (Tammy) O’Neil, Kara (Bob) O’Neil, Steven Oleyourryk, John Oleyourryk, Paul Oleyourryk, Jr., Robert Walpole, John Walpole, Heather Laracuente, Suzie (John) Etu, Daniel Ellingwood, Jr., Kylie Pelkey and eighteen great-grandchildren. Mr. Walpole was predeceased by two sons Robert W. Walpole and Daniel M. Ellingwood. Funeral services will be Thursday 7:00PM at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery. Calling hours Thursday 4-7PM prior to the funeral service.
