Oswego - Virginia A. Dain passed away on September 25, 2010 at age 92. Virginia, known to many as “Tiny”, was born on May 1, 1918 to Charles L. Dain and Geneva Galvin Dain. A lifelong resident of Oswego, New York, she was previously deceased by her five brothers and sisters. She was a graduate of the College of Saint Elizabeth of Morristown, New Jersey and was honored to be in Who’s Who of American College Women. She received her Master’s Degree in Audio Visual (AV) from Syracuse University in 1949, and started the first AV Program in the Oswego High School. She taught World History for 36 years while being head of the AV Department, and retired in 1977. Ms. Dain was an avid golfer and, in 1941, was winner of the President’s Club silver trophy from the Oswego Country Club. She enjoyed skiing, travel, gardening, and helping others. She was a devout member of St. Peters Church. Ms. Dain is survived by her three nieces she helped raise; Sally Warner Stanek of Fairport, NY, Joan Warner Plato and Gerald Plato of Ellicott City, MD, and Martha Warner Nelson and Mark Nelson of Mt. Juliet, Tenn. She also leaves many cherished nieces and nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Her family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30am Friday, October 1st, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, 112 East Second Street in Oswego. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00am Friday, at St. Peter’s Church. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery, following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter’s Church, 83 East Albany Street in Oswego.
