Oswego – Mary A. McCarthy, 83, a resident of St. Luke’s Apartments, passed away Saturday, at the Oswego Hospital.
Mrs. McCarthy was born in Oswego, the daughter of the late Joseph and Augusta (Famularo) Dalia. She was a life resident.
She was the wife of the late Edward “Red” McCarthy, who died in 1985.
Mrs. McCarthy was a graduate of Oswego High School.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a teacher’s aide at Fitzhugh Park School in Oswego. She has previously worked as a credit manager with several local businesses.
She was always active in PTAs and Home and School associations, and was a former member of the Oswego High School Advisory Committee.
Mrs. McCarthy was a loving mother and grandmother, and her family was the most important thing in her life.
She is survived by a daughter, Eva (Rob) Corradino of Oswego; 4 sons, George (Rhonda) McCarthy of Florida, Joseph McCarthy of California, Christopher McCarthy of California; and Patrick (Gail) McCarthy of Connecticut; 14 grandchildren, Lauren and Joseph Corradino; and Jon, Colin, Scott, Jamie, Bridgette, Johanna, Jahsmine, Kristin, Mayson, Grayson, Phoebe, and Aidan McCarthy; and several nieces and nephews, including a dear niece and friend, Celia Sgroi of Oswego.
She was predeceased by 3 brothers, Peter, George, and Joseph Dalia; and 2 sisters, Josephine Corso and Nancy Sgroi.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30am Friday, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, 112 East Second Street in Oswego.
Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery.
A calling hour will be held from 9:30 to 10:30am Friday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
