Oswego - John M. Carter, 61 of Hamilton Homes died Tuesday May 19 peacefully at his home.
He was the son of the late Carlton and Kathleen M. (Murphy). And the widower of Judy (Waite) Carter.
Born in Oswego , where he was a life resident. He served in Viet-Nam aboard the USS Mauna Loa AE-8 from 1966 - 1968 and upon his honorable discharge from the Navy as CS-3, he began working at Armstrong Cork Co. in Fulton . Jack later worked at Bethlehem Steel, CCA, Nestle's, and Oswego County B.O.C.E.S. Upon his retirement, he was a volunteer fireman for both the Town of Oswego , and Scriba fire departments. Jack was one of the founding members of the Scriba BINGO Organization. He was a member of both VFW Posts 5885 and Post 2320 of Oswego . Jack was also a part of the USS Mauna Loa AE-8 Reunion Group.
Jack enjoyed bingo, poker, scrabble, and most any gambling.
Jack is predeceased by two brothers Carlton E. Carter and William F. Carter as well as one sister Barbera J. (Carter) Vosseller.
He is survived by three Daughters and one Son, daughters : Holly (Randy) Dorval , Amy (Dan) Quonce, Katrina (Joshua) Leavens, and son : Chad Carter. His 4 grandchildren David Dorval, Jason and Elizabeth Barlow, and Ethan Leavens all of Oswego , Two Sisters Kathleen Skapetis of Oswego , and Ann (Donald) Hoefer of Florida , as well as one brother David (Teresa) of Hudson Falls , NY . and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.
A private service will be held, no calling hours.
