Thomas R. “T.R.” Cullen Jr. of Oswego, passed away peacefully on Monday April, 13 in the Oswego Hospital.
Thomas was born in Oswego October 7, 1927 to the late Dr. Thomas R. and Helen Marsh Cullen, Sr. He was a graduate of the Oswego High School and a graduate of the first class at Lemoyne College in 1951. He also received his Master’s degree at SUNY Oswego. He owned and operated Midtown Liquors in Oswego. Thomas was a teacher in the West Genesee School District and was an English teacher at the Mexico Academy and Central School District until his retirement. During retirement he was a substitute teacher in the Oswego City School District.
Thomas was a life member of the Oswego Elk’s Lodge, Knights of Columbus and NYSUT. He was an avid stamp and coin collector. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Oswego. Thomas was also a great friend to all animals which was evidenced most with his beloved Irish Setter, Red.
He is survived by his wife Beverly ( Wells) Cullen, one daughter Terri (Edward) Stacy of Oswego, one son Thomas R. (Amy) Cullen, III of Burnt Hills, one brother Francis (Joan) Cullen of Oswego, four grandchildren, Tara Stacy, Ryan Cullen, Meghan Cullen, Kevin Cullen and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday 11:00AM in St. Mary’s Church. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Mary’s Church 103 West Seventh St. Oswego 13126 Arrangements by the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home.
