Oswego – Betty Jane Robinson, 85, passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, April 9, 2009.
Betty was born June 17, 1923 in Turin, Iowa. She was the daughter of Thayer E. Brown and Mary Jo (Hendrickson) Brown.
Betty was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Frank Robinson, on October 1, 2007.
Betty was a graduate of Onawa, Iowa High School, graduated from Stephens College in Columbus, MO, and received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri in Elementary Education.
She was involved in a number of organizations in Oswego including the Children’s Board, the Oswego Hospital Auxiliary, Meals on Wheels, the American Cancer Society, and Literacy Volunteers. She was also a member of Delta Delta Delta National Sorority and P.E.O. Sisterhood Chapter BA, Oswego. She was a member of the Minetto United Methodist Church.
Betty was very devoted to her husband and family, and enjoyed her family and friends very much.
She is survived by her sister, Christy Moore of Ellington, MO; her brother, Thayer E. Brown II of Turin, Iowa; and her three children, Kyle (Kathy) Robinson and family of Bethel Park, PA, Kimber (Wendy) Robinson and family of Geneseo, NY, and Kristie (Tom) Dawson and family of Bethel Park, PA. She also is survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A private family ceremony will be held in Turin, Iowa, at a later date.
