Oswego – Salvatori “Sam” Lazzaro, 82, a resident of the O’Connor Road in the Town of Scriba, passed away Tuesday, in the Oswego Hospital.
Mr. Lazzaro was born in Volney, the son of the late Vito and Maria (Torrisi) Lazzaro. He was a life resident of the area.
For many years, he was the owner and operator of Lazzaro’s Market in the Town of Scriba. He was also an avid farmer and gardener.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Elizabeth (Dunn) Lazzaro; 4 daughters, Cathie (Charles) Rinoldo of Oswego, Patricia (Peter) Alkema of Florida, Debbie (Art Stevens) Lazzaro of Oswego, and Laura (Robert McEwen) Stiles of Oswego; 2 sons, Samuel (Sue) Lazzaro of Virginia, and Mark (Karen) Lazzaro of Oswego; 2 brothers, Joseph (Elaine) Lazzaro of Mexico, and Benny (Barbara) Lazzaro of Oswego; 6 sisters, Rose Tripolone of Syracuse, Virginia Clark of Fulton, Mary Cory of Fulton, Jenny Munger of Fulton, Alfia Brace of Oswego, and Grace Campbell of California; 22 grandchildren, Jason Rinoldo, Christopher Rinoldo, David Ellingwood, Samuel Lazzaro, Justen Lazzaro, Brandon Domicolo, Erin Patry, Sean Domicolo, Sarah Domicolo, Peter Alkema, Gage Alkema, Wendi Jones, Stephanie Czirr, Rebecca Lloyd, Nathan Merritt, Shane Merritt, Joshua McEwen, Michael Stiles, Jaimie Stiles, Anthony Lazzaro, Andrew Lazzaro, and Erika Lazzaro; 10 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 9:00am Saturday, in St. Mary’s Church.
Spring burial will be in North Scriba Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held from 4:00 to 7:00pm Friday, at the Dain-Cullinan Funeral Home, 112 East Second Street, Oswego, NY 13126.
